Cape Peninsula Full day tour (9 hours) Full day Cape Point tour starting with an ascent by cable car up Table Mountain (weather permitting) offering breathtaking views of the City, harbour and coastline. Follow the mountain along Marine Drive past the exclusive seaside resort suburbs of Sea Point, Clifton and Llandudno to Hout Bay – once the source of wood (from the mountains and valleys) used to construct many of Cape Town’s old buildings, now a large fishing harbour featuring restaurants and cruise departures to Seal Island. Continue over the impressive Chapman’s Peak Drive (when operational) built by prisoners of war around 1920 and hugging the cliffs high above the surf line and offering magnificent views of the Atlantic seaboard. Continue onto Cape Point Nature Reserve, the meeting point of the the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. After a seafood lunch at Miller’s Point overlooking False Bay, continue to the Naval base of Simon’s Town which has been used as a harbour and anchorage since 1741 and where one can visit the penguin colony which thrives in the bay. On through the villages of Fishhoek and Muizenberg to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens before returning to your hotel in the late afternoon.
Stellenbosch Wine Route Full day tour Full day tour of the winelands including the picturesque university town of Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa, established in 1679 and renowned for its vineyards and orchards. Onto Boschendal Estate to visit the elegant manor house, taste the excellent wines and enjoy a sumptuous lunch. After lunch continue to the French settler town of Franschhoek, where in 1690 about 200 French Huegenot settlers established a farming community. Today it is known for its quaint art and craft shops, restaurants and galleries and the surrounding wine estates. Return to your hotel via the town of Paarl cradled in the Berg River Valley in the shadow of the second largest granite rock in the world and which gives the name of “The Pearl” to the town. Paarl offers wine and fruit estates and has a rich architectural heritage.
Hermanus Full day tour Full day tour to Hermanus via the national road offering panoramic views of the Constantiaberg Mountain Range and the Cape Flats from the top of Sir Lowry’s Pass. Enjoy whale spotting in Hermanus Bay in season. After a leisurely lunch return to Cape Town along the coastal road past the resort towns of Kleinmond, Cape Hangklip, Rooiels and Gordon’s Bay.
